SAINTS ace Lexi Lloyd-Smith insisted it has been “amazing” coming to the club for its debut Championship season, exceeding expectations with her first two goals.
The young forward netted twice on her first start with one in each half to defeat then-league-leaders Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Lloyd-Smith, who was playing in the United States of America last year, could celebrate with the team as her brace fired them to a 2-1 victory for their first ever at this level.
“It feels amazing. To score two and to win are both amazing to be fair, we’re showing in a new league what we’ve got and we’re excited for more. It feels great definitely,” she told the Daily Echo.
“It’s been amazing, to come to Southampton and being in America last year to get the welcoming I had was great. My confidence keeps on growing every day, so I can’t wait for more.”
Lloyd-Smith continued: “This team is amazing. They’ve helped me settle in quickly and well, all the girls are confident and push to go on. We’re all pushing each other day to day.
“It feels amazing, it’s great to show the new league what we’ve got. And hopefully it’s the start of many more.”
