ADAM Lallana admitted his night couldn't have been much more perfect, as his first ever Saints goal earned a precious point at the Hawthorns.
The 19-year-old sent the travelling Saints fans into raptures, after he fired his side into a shock lead in the 76th minute, shortly after coming off the bench.
It was a Roy of the Rovers moment, as Bournemouth-born Lallana slammed the ball past West Brom keeper Dean Kiely and in off the far post from the right side of the box.
Only Chris Brunt's late equaliser stopped his night from being complete.
"I couldn't believe it, I had only been on five minutes and I just ran to the fans to celebrate," he said.
"I remember Jermaine Wright getting the ball and I was on the shoulder of the defender.
"He spotted my run and I just thought shoot early' and I knew it was in as soon as I hit the ball.
"It couldn't have been much more perfect. It would only have been better if we had gone on to win it.
"My mum and dad were here and one of my best friends, so I was really glad they could celebrate it with me."
Lallana said the players were disappointed not to have held on for the win, but he believes last night's point gives them a great chance of surviving.
"One or two of the lads are down, because we were so close to the three points, but the manager has lifted our heads and focused on the positives," he said.
"From the beginning we set out to win the game.
"We knew they were a good side, but we wanted to ruin the party.
"We thought we had done that, but credit and congratulations to West Brom.
"We are still in it and we think we have got a great chance.
"If we go out there with the same mentality and play like we did today against Sheffield United we have got every chance.
"All we can do now is beat Sheffield United and hope a result goes our way."
