DELL legend Francis Benali has urged Saints to focus on beating Sheffield United before worrying about what is happening elsewhere.
Nigel Pearson's men picked up a creditable point against Premier League-bound West Brom at the Hawthorns on Monday.
But for some, the gloss was taken off it somewhat as it means Saints' Championship fate is no longer in their own hands as they head into the final round of games third from bottom.
And Benali, a veteran of nearly 400 Saints games, said: "They have got to go out with that mentality that they are going to win against Sheffield United. Unfortunately we can't predict what is going to happen elsewhere.
"So first and foremost they have got to concentrate on their own job of winning the home game.
"Then it a case of just listening in to find out what is going on elsewhere, most notably in the Leicester game."
