BETTING odds on Ralph Hasenhuttl to be the next Premier League manager to leave have been heavily slashed from 16/1 to 9/4 in one morning.
The Austrian was one of the favourites to depart early in the campaign after an opening day drubbing but new owners Sport Republic bought into his project.
With 10 summer signings and a youthful team, Hasenhuttl had Saints optimistic after comeback victories versus both Leicester City and Chelsea.
The St Mary’s side have suffered back-to-back 1-0 defeats in the Midlands, at Wolves and Aston Villa, and going into the international break that was enough to slash his departure odds.
On Betfair, Hasenhuttl has gone from a 16/1 outsider to be the next manager to leave at 8:30AM to 9/4 second favourite in a matter of hours as the money pours in.
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is still the favourite to be the next to depart at evens, with the Foxes rock-bottom and winless in the Premier League.
On SkyBet, Hasenhuttl is even shorter at 7/4. Other betting sites may vary, and typically just follow the money coming in.
Saints sit 14th in the Premier League table with seven points from the opening seven matches; one point behind relegation-favourites AFC Bournemouth.
Already this season, AFC Bournemouth’s Scott Parker and Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel have lost their jobs as manager.
Saints, who had their home tie with Brentford between the two away losses postponed due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, face Everton at St Mary’s on Saturday, October 1.
Hasenhuttl has kept Saints in the Premier League on a shoe-string budget since his arrival in December 2018, and has now had investment for the first time.
The astute signings of Romeo Lavia, Armel Bella-Kotchap and Gavin Bazunu - amongst others - have all received national acclaim .
