SCOTLAND international Che Adams was on the end of a body slam by Valeriy Bondar during their clash with Ukraine and joked: “Could he play NFL?”

The 26-year-old striker started alongside Saints teammate Stuart Armstrong as they defeated Ukraine 3-0 with three late goals at Hampden Park in the Nations League.

John McGinn and a Lyndon Dykes started and finished the scoring between the 70th and 87th minutes, lifting the Tartan Army to top of their group and in a promotion shout.

Adams, who did not find his seventh international goal on his 20th appearance, did find himself chucked to the floor by Shaktar Donetsk defender Bondar why through on goal.

“I can’t even remember what happened! All I know is that I was through on goal,” Adams said, after the match.

“The referee only gave him a yellow card. Did I think it was a red? I think the fans did! Could he play NFL? Maybe he should! Nah, I was alright.

“The most important thing was winning and I thought we played very well. Looking back I definitely should have had one goal. The main thing was we won.

“Then Lyndon came on and scored two and that is just the way football is. He played very well. It was a top performance from everyone.

“We are good enough now to put teams under pressure. That is what the gaffer has told us to do. Bring more pressure to the opposition and we definitely stood on more to them in the second half and caused them issues.”

Adams could feature again when Scotland host Republic of Ireland on Saturday, September 24, before a final Nations League meeting with a Ukraine rematch next week.
