EASTLEIGH were held to a 1-1 draw at Gateshead after Ryan Hill’s first goal of the National League season.
The Spitfires took the lead in the 20th minute when Hill slotted in from close range following a knock down by forward Danny Whitehall.
Tristan Abrahams was denied from doubling the lead in first-half stoppage time after Gateshead keeper Daniel Langley raced out of his goal to make a save.
Gateshead were level with 15 minutes left when substitute Dan Jarvis, on to make his debut, curled a shot into the top corner, which proved enough for a share of the points.
At least 40 travelling fans made the 640-mile round trip to support Lee Bradbury’s side, which also saw captain Aaron Martin make a 50th appearance for the club.
The result leaves Eastleigh 12th in the table after 11 matches, having picked up 15 points with four wins and three draws.
