WOLVES have sacked head coach Bruno Lage.
The 46-year-old arrived at Molineux in June 2021 after previous boss Nuno Espirito Santo departed to join Tottenham Hotspur.
The Portuguese guided Wolves to a 10th-place finish last Premier League campaign, but a 2-0 defeat to West Ham saw them plunge to 18th after eight matches.
They are the lowest scorers in the division with just three goals and Saints are the only team they have beaten this season.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side were beaten 1-0 in the Black Country a couple of weeks before the last international break.
Hasenhuttl himself is under increasing pressure and will move to favourite at the bookies for next Premier League manager to depart when the markets reopen.
Saints visit Manchester City next in the league on Saturday, after the champions just stuck six past city rivals United – with Erling Haaland and Phil Foden both scoring hattricks.
