Report claims Ralph Hasenhuttl is 'on the brink' at Saints

Speculation has been rife surrounding the 55-year-old's future for much of this week, following Saints' 2-1 defeat at home to Everton on Saturday.

That saw Saints slip to 16th in the Premier League table, just one point outside the relegation zone, having lost three matches in succession.

Stretching back to last season, Hasenhuttl's side have won just three of their past 20 league fixtures. That has seen bookmakers slash odds on the Austrian becoming the next top-flight boss to lose his job.

The Telegraph's report claims Hasenhuttl's time at Saints is "coming to a close" and that the club are "now considering the timing of the Austrian coach's departure and a new manager imminent".

The report goes on to say a change of boss at Saints has been "on the cards for some time", with possible candidates for a replacement being discussed within the club.

As it stands, Hasenhuttl is set to face the media for his traditional pre-match press conference tomorrow afternoon, ahead of Saturday's daunting-looking trip to Manchester City.

Former RB Leipzig boss Hasenhuttl has been in charge of Saints since December 2018 and, despite a lack of funds in the transfer market during large periods of his tenure, has kept the club in the Premier League.
