RALPH Hasenhuttl told a reporter “you don’t need to ask me these questions if you don’t want to”, as he addressed media reports suggesting his job is under pressure.
The Telegraph reported Hasenhuttl as ‘on the brink’ of losing his job as Saints manager after a run of 12 points from 20 Premier League matches.
The last three games have brought defeat and Hasenhuttl already faced questions asking him about his future last week, at which point he insisted he was not under pressure.
The first question of the pre-match briefing ahead of the trip to Manchester City was again about the media reports circulating, with the reporter conceding he knew it was similar questioning again.
Hasenhuttl responded: "You don't need to ask me these questions if you don't want to. We have a beautiful game to talk about."
However, he elaborated: “From my side, I've been here a long time. We've had tough times and good times and I don't have a different feeling than every other Premier League manager.
“You need results and wins and you need to concentrate on them. We've had better periods that's for sure and we're facing Man City.
“We know what team we're facing but I know we drew twice against them last season and were one of few teams to take a point off them at the Etihad. That's what we're concentrating on, the rest is up to you guys."
Saints visit the home of the Premier League champions, Man City, at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, October 8 (3PM.)
It looks increasingly likely Hasenhuttl will remain in charge for the visit north, while media reports suggest his time at the club could soon come to a close.
Hasenhuttl has been manager of Saints for nearly four years, and only Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp of the current managers were here when he arrived.
