CELEBRITY chef Aldo Zilli has offered some unique help to Saints in their bid to stun Premier League champions Manchester City this weekend.
One of Saints' toughest jobs this weekend is likely to be keeping quiet irrepressible frontman Erling Haaland, who has netted an astonishing 20 goals already for club and country combined this season.
In his last three Premier League home games, the Norway international has scored a hat-trick, including in last weekend's Manchester derby.
In the build-up to the game, former Swindon Town striker Jan Age Fjortoft, a close friend of Erling Haaland's father Alfie, revealed the 22-year-old had been feeding off his dad's lasagne heading into matches.
Speaking after the 6-3 win over United, Erling Haaland said: "I've had it before every home game now and that turns out fairly well, so there has to be something special he adds to it.
"I help out very little. I mostly lie on the couch watching him. That's the way it works."
Pundit Fjortoft told talkSPORT: “I spoke to Alfie again and said ‘you have to do this cook book now in England’.
“But we had Alfie before the (Man Utd) game and he said he was doing his lasagne.
“I knew about that and then suddenly he (Erling) scored three and straight after the game I start getting text messages from people asking, ‘can we have that recipe?'”
And now, popular Italian chef Zilli, famous in the UK for his television appearances on the likes of Celebrity Masterchef, The Alan Titchmarsh Show and This Morning, has offered Saints some help, before they face City at Etihad Stadium tomorrow (3pm), with a lasagne recipe of his own.
He told talkSPORT: “The secret of this one is I made fresh pasta sheets.
“Then I’ve got some beef and pork ragu, which I’ve cooked very slow for about four or five hours.
“Added a little bit of milk, like they do in Bologna.
“Then the twist on this lasagne is the cheese sauce that I’ve made with bechamel.
“Then the final twist is wild mushrooms and truffle. It’s truffle season and wild mushroom season, so I'm going with the seasons here.
“Every season I change my recipes. This one is a lasagne made especially for talkSPORT.
“So you can give it to Walker-Peters (and Larios), because they’re going to have a handful on their hands!
“Guys, the key to stop Erling Haaland this weekend is my truffle lasagne. Go for it!”
