TWO Southampton boxers are set to make their professional debuts next weekend.
Gracjan Bak and Mitchell Woollard are both fighting as part of Steve Bendall's show at the O2 Academy in Boscombe on October 22.
The pair box out of Pound For Pound Palace gym in Northam Road, Southampton, under the guidance of Gennady Gordienko and Steve Barnes.
Polish ace Bak, from Rzeszow, has been involved in combat sports since he was seven years old.
Now 29, Bak first competed in judo for 10 years becoming a brown belt.
He moved to England in 2012, living in Gloucester and continued to compete in combat sports.
Bak earned a Brazilian jiu jitsu purple belt, and had six amateur MMA contests, winning three of them and drawing two, before turning to professional MMA where he won two of his three bouts.
Since moving to Southampton three years ago, Bak has boxed six times in amateur boxing for Pound For Pound, where he won four contests before deciding to try the paid ranks where he will be managed by Gary White.
"I’m very excited and looking forward to working with Gracjan and guiding him in his pro career," said White.
"As you can see he has competed in a wide range of combat sports and will be exciting to watch in the pro ranks with his aggressive, come forward style."
Bak will debut against veteran Chris Adaway from Plymouth. The 29-year-old's pro record reads 10 wins, four draws and 75 defeats.
Woollard, also managed by White, will debut against 36-year-old Paul Cummings.
The Northern Ireland-born pro has won three, lost 66 and drawn once in his career.
Originally from Essex, Woollard, 24, now lives in Winchester. He came through the white collar ranks, winning 17 from 20 for Scott Jones at SAS Boxing.
He then turned to amateur boxing with Pound For Pound and coach Barnes, winning two out of three bouts before signing with White to manage him in the professional ranks.
"He is a very stylish, awkward boxer and I’m looking forward to working with him," said White.
Tickets are still on sale for the night of boxing, priced at £40 for seating and £35 for standing areas.
