FIVE Saints fans will be taking a piece of the city all over Doha for the upcoming 2022 World Cup, attending an incredible 11 games including all three England group fixtures.
Glenn, Adrian, Simon, Stuart and Ed first decided during a drunken night in the pub to pull off the feat and are set to fly out from Heathrow on Sunday.
With them, they will take a Hedge End England flag that has already seen World Cups and Three Lions fixtures all over the globe – although it is only Adrian who is the Hedge End representative.
“Believe it or not, myself and Adrian went to the World Cup in Spain 40 years ago and we’ve been to most of them since - it all started from there,” Glenn Simmonds told the Daily Echo.
Glenn also invites any Saints fans who see the flag out in Qatar to come over and chat – but it is not just the England games you may see it.
On the same day as Gareth Southgate’s side kick off their tournament versus Iran, Wales will face USA – Glenn and the group have tickets for that one too.
“I’ll be supporting the USA in that one,” he joked. “It’s a great thing going to World Cups.”
Every World Cup fixture is in and around Qatar’s capital of Doha, so it is one of the rare occasions a traveller could pull something like this off with minimal hassle.
