AFC Totton defeated AFC Stoneham of the Wessex League Premier Division 3-0 to continue their defence of the Southampton Senior Cup, writes Benjamin Rees.
Totton threatened from the outset and took an early lead when Jake Adams stabbed home after Silvano Obeng’s header hit the base of the post.
The Stags doubled their lead midway through the first half, Obeng this time planting his header in the back of the net.
The hosts managed the game from there, but nearly gave Stoneham a way back from the penalty spot, only for Jim Orvis to miss the target.
Maybe given a wake-up call, Totton ensured the victory when Ethan Taylor coolly finished into the corner in stoppage time.
A night later, Eastleigh overcame Hythe & Dibden 1-0 at Silverlake Stadium in the third round of the Hampshire Senior Cup.
Balraj Singh’s fierce effort took a deflection which wrongfooted the Hythe keeper to prove the difference between the sides in the 34th minute.
