SAINTS manager Nathan Jones insisted the club are “definitely closer” to securing their first January signings but conceded it is out of his hands.
The St Mary’s side have been linked to a number of transfer targets including Dinamo Zagreb’s Mislav Orsic and FC Lorient’s Terem Moffi, as they look to reinforce the squad. A deal for Croatian international Orsic is on the verge of being agreed.
Saints are rock-bottom of the Premier League and remained there following a home defeat to Nottingham Forest, but the Daily Echo is told an unnamed medical was scheduled for the following day.
When Jones faced the press following the defeat to Forest, the Daily Echo asked the manager if he could update supporters on the progress of their pursuits.
“We’re definitely closer so that’s one thing, hopefully we will have some good news,” he responded.
“That’s now in the hands of the owners, but that’s in the hands of the owners. We know who our targets were but that’s in the hands of the owners.”
Saints are looking to strengthen across the park with a focus on the attacking positions, as well as central midfield and centre-back.
