CROATIAN international Mislav Orsic is undergoing a medical at Saints ahead of a proposed move to the club, the Daily Echo understands.
The 30-year-old winger could become Nathan Jones’s first signing in a deal worth around £6million with further fees in add-ons.
Orsic has scored 91 goals in 214 games for Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb including notches versus English sides Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and West Ham in European competition.

The forward scored one of the goals of the World Cup tournament last month in Croatia’s third-place playoff victory over Morocco.
Other Premier League clubs had been linked to Orsic in a three-day saga that at one point saw Saints all but counted out of the race to sign him.
They are looking for reinforcements all over the field, including centre-back and central midfield, but chiefly they need more creativity and goals up front.
Saints remain bottom of the Premier League table after a 1-0 home defeat to follow relegation-threatened strugglers Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.
Orsic is understood to have undergone a medical the following day, with Saints also reportedly in the market for Villarreal winger Nicolas Jackson and FC Lorient forward Terem Moffi.

Saints owners Sport Republic had been looking to continue their strategy of signing young players who will eventually have higher potential and resell value.
However, the lack of experience in the Saints side has shown on the pitch following the reluctant sanctioning of vice-captain Oriol Romeu’s move to Girona in the summer.
Jones is said to have been a leader in wanting more experience and on Wednesday claimed to push signings over the line was now in the owner’s hands.
He had previously claimed he is not sure exactly how busy Saints will be in the January window, with anywhere from “one, two, three or 10” signings needed.
