Saints have agreed a fee for midfielder Carlos Alcaraz according to his soon-to-be former team, Racing Club.
It had been reported earlier in the day that Alcaraz would be due in Southampton tomorrow for his medical and now Racing have confirmed via their official Twitter account that an agreement has been reached between the two clubs for the midfielder's signature.
Racing have announced that Saints are paying €13.65m - or just over £12m - for the 20-year-old while the South American club will retain a 15% sell-on fee.
Carlos Alcaraz fue transferido al Southampton, de la Premier League de Inglaterra, en 13.650.000 euros más un 15% de plusvalía en caso de una futura venta.

Alcaraz broke onto the scene in 2020 and has already played more than 80 times for Racing, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists.
Saints have been light in the central midfield department ever since sanctioning Oriol Romeu's return to Spain in the summer, but Alcaraz should help reinforce that problem area.
Nathan Jones and his team need help quickly as they languish rock-bottom of the Premier league table after 18 games.
Provided his medical goes to plan, Alcaraz will become Saints' second signing of the January transfer window following the addition of Croatian attacker Mislav Orsic.
Speaking to Argentinian television channel TyC Sports ahead of his flight to England, Alcaraz opened up on the 'dream' move to Saints.
“I was about to go to training, but they told me that I had to leave, that I had a flight now. So now I’m going to fulfill my dream.”
“I’ve been seeing that the Premier League is a nice league, and I’m going to have to work a lot. I’m going to have to earn my position, as I did at Racing.”
