SAINTS interim manager Ruben Selles admitted he had not seen the Cesar Azpilicueta injury back but sent his full support to his fellow countryman.

There was a worry for Chelsea during an eventual 1-0 defeat when Azpilicueta was carried from the field on a stretcher with an oxygen mask after being struck in the head by the boot of Sekou Mara as he attempted to clear.

The Frenchman was booked for his hand in the concern despite arguments from Chelsea players that he should have received a harsher punishment.

"I haven't looked back at it yet," Selles responded, when asked about the incident. "I had a lot of things to do. I wish a speedy, quick recovery now for Azpilicueta.

“I have asked Willy (Caballero) to keep me posted on his state. Hopefully he will be back and show how good a footballer and person he is."

James Ward-Prowse scored the 17th free-kick of his Premier League career earlier in the tie to give Saints a lead and move within one of David Beckham’s record.
