Join Daily Echo Saints reporter Benjy Nurick from Elland Road as he assessed Southampton's dismal 1-0 defeat to Leeds United.
Entering the day 20th in the Premier League table, one place and one point behind Leeds, Saints' survival aspirations were dealt a major blow as Junior Firpo's 77th minute shot squirmed under Gavin Bazunu.
Creating very little of their own throughout the afternoon, Saints never looked like getting back into the game as they succumbed to the 1-0 defeat.
Saints are now four ponts adrift of safety with just 14 games left to go. It will take a mammoth effort to stay up from this position and it's hard to have huge faith following Saturday's loss.
Over the past decade an average of 35 points has been required by Premier League teams to earn survival with a high of 38 needed in the 2015/16 campaign and a low of 29 in 2020/21.
In order to reach that 35-point throshild, Saints would need another 17 points - likely only achiveed with a minumum of four more wins.
Can you see Saints staying up? What do they need to do to get there? All that and more is disccused in thevideo below.
