EXPERIENCED Saints forward Theo Walcott has issued a six-word message following defeat to League Two Grimsby Town.
The 33 year old was a second-half substitute for Ruben Selles and nearly had the perfect impact but for an equalising goal being ruled out due to offside.
It meant Saints were beaten 2-1 at St Mary’s in the FA Cup fifth round when they would have been just one win from Wembley should they have progressed past the Mariners.
Walcott, who has taken on a role as a senior leader in the team alongside James Ward-Prowse and Kyle Walker-Peters, has broken the silence with a post to social media.
On Instagram, the former England man simply said: “Last night was unacceptable. No excuses.”
Walcott could feature again when Saints welcome Leicester City to St Mary’s in the Premier League on Saturday, with the bottom club needing to make up four points on those in safety.
