SAINTS manager Ruben Selles admitted he cannot guarantee survival in the Premier League but says his side will “fight for every point” for the rest of the campaign.

The Spaniard had his full group back together at Staplewood towards the end of this week after 13 players went away on international duty.

They have reviewed footage from their last match – a 3-3 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at St Mary’s – and are prepared for Sunday's trip to West Ham United.

Selles might be without Che Adams and Mohammed Salisu as they face late fitness calls, while Armel Bella-Kotchap is definitely ruled out through injury.

West Ham boss David Moyes has a potential trio of injuries of his own (Emerson, Nayef Ageurd and Gianluca Scamacca) to add spice to an 18th versus 20th clash.

“I cannot say that (we will be okay), but I can say that we are alive and will fight for every point for the rest of the season,” Selles said cooly when asked for his message to supporters.

“We are going to make some performances for which they will be proud of us, we have done that in the last month and a half.

“I can say that, hopefully, we will stay in the Premier League and that we will not need to wait until the final day of the season to confirm that.

“I can say for sure that we are prepared for everything that is coming and that we will put our best into it.”

Saints have picked up eight points in Selles’s six games since he replaced Nathan Jones as the manager in February, but remain two points adrift at the bottom.

Moyes is likely to face increasing pressure should West Ham not take a maximum from their visiting counterparts – but Selles believes Saints are only improving.

“We talk about how we are in a process and we are building things, and then I think the first goal against Tottenham is a clear process,” he identified.

“We had a chance after two minutes which showed the movement we want to do and we had more chances with those same movements which show we didn’t lose structure.

“Even though we were two goals down, we stuck to the plan. Even with the finishers, with the substitutions, we stuck to the plan. We knew we were going to score goals.”

Selles continued: “We can arrive into those situations and that was the main topic a couple of weeks ago.

“We have evaluated the last six weeks and with everyone back from the internationals we have also reviewed the Tottenham game.

“There are ups and downs when you are trying to build something but the points are there, and I think we can get some more wins in the last 10 games.”
