Russell Martin's managerial move to Saints has reportedly been held up by an unusual compensation issue but is expected to be resolved "swiftly".
Swansea City boss Martin is understood to be the next manager at the helm at St Mary's following the club's relegation to the Championship.
The former Scotland international has 12 months remaining on his contract in Wales and as such the club are entitled to compensation for him leaving.
The Sun report that the hold-up is due to Martin having two price tags over his head with Swansea entitled to more money for a move to a Premier League club.
Saints have now gone down so that should see the figure reduce to a more acceptable level, while his backroom staff will also cost extra cash.
A new report on BBC Sport detailed that the difference in compensation for Martin is £2million for a Premier League club but only £1.25million for a Championship club.
The report details that all parties expect the issue to be resolved swiftly with Martin lined up to replace outgoing Ruben Selles.
