NEW Southampton manager Russell Martin has said he aims to get Saints "back where they belong", following the confirmation of his arrival at St Mary's.
He completes his switch from Swansea City, where he spent two seasons as manager, recently guiding them to a 10th-place finish, three points off the play-off positions.
Martin has signed a three year contract at Southampton, which should keep him on the South Coast until 2026.
The announcement of his appointment had been expected for a while but had been held up due to negotiations between Swansea and Saints over compensation, as the former Scotland international had one year left on his deal at the South Wales side.

The 37 year old has said: “It’s a privilege to accept this opportunity at Southampton, a club with such a long and rich history.
“My aim is to get this club back where it belongs - in the top flight of English football.
“I am ready for this challenge and will give everything to achieve this aim and to give the supporters a team that makes them proud.
“I’m thrilled to be here and cannot wait for the work to begin.”
Martin is expected to be joined by first-team coaches Matt Gill and Dean Thornton, but no official announcement has been made regarding their arrival at St Mary's.
