NEWCASTLE United are pursuing Saints defender Tino Livramento on a permanent transfer this summer.

The 20 year old made just two substitute appearances last season having suffered an ACL injury in April 2022 but making his long-awaited return to the Premier League.

The St Mary’s side were already relegated by the time Livramento entered the field at Brighton, the same stadium he had picked up the injury more than a year prior.

Newcastle, who qualified for the Champions League under manager Eddie Howe last campaign, are looking to bolster their squad to compete on an additional front.

The Magpies are attempting to sign Livramento, as first reported by The Telegraph, but the two clubs are currently apart on their valuation.

Daily Echo: Tino Livramento pictured ahead of his appearance for the Saints B team last month.

Reports claim Newcastle are looking to strike a measly £15million deal for the former Chelsea product but this is not a fee Saints would be willing to accept.

Livramento is under contract until 2026 following his £5million arrival from Cobham under former manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, who immediately started the youngster in the first 18 league fixtures.

The Daily Echo understands Chelsea previously discussed activating Livramento’s buy-back clause this summer, which is said to be valued at £40million, before he was injured last year.

The Telegraph report claims former AFC Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser could be included as part player exchange for the release of Livramento from St Mary’s.

Further reports state Newcastle are confident of landing Livramento this summer despite the current discrepancy in the value of the full-back.

Livramento has enjoyed his time at Saints and is grateful for the work they have put in to ease him back to fitness over the last 14 months.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Echo in April, Livramento said: “You realise how hard it is to come back from the injuries I’ve had but it’s made me a lot stronger mentally and physically.

“It’s a part of my journey to get to the top and I’ve just got to relish the moment and look to push on.”

Newcastle have also held an interest in Saints stars Kyle Walker-Peters and James Ward-Prowse ahead of the summer window, which could yet be revived.
