FORMER Eastleigh loanee JJ McKiernan has joined Morecambe on a free transfer following his release from Watford.
Southampton-born McKiernan spent last season on loan at the Silverlake Stadium and played a key role as the Spitfires narrowly missed out on a play off spot.
His four goals in 41 appearances were enough to impress the League Two outfit to sign the 21 year old on a one year deal.
Speaking on McKiernan's arrival at The Mazuma Stadium, Morecambe boss Derek Adams said: "JJ is still a young, raw talent but we believe we can help him develop here.
"He comes with a variety of experiences at different levels and our job is to help him continue his progression in men’s senior football.”
McKiernan is following in the footsteps of former teammate Vincent Harper in making the step up to the football league following last season's play off disappointment.
“I am really pleased to be here and to be given this opportunity by the manager," McKiernan said upon joining The Shrimps.
"Morecambe is a good club and somewhere that I feel I can progress in the next stage of my journey.
“Obviously last season I was in the National League so this is another step up but one I am really relishing and I can’t wait to get started now.”
