SAINTS are closing in on exceeding the season ticket sales of 2022-23 despite the club’s disappointing campaign and relegation to the Championship.
The club have had several record individual sale days and are expecting more season ticket holders committed to the 23 home league game season at the start of the season compared with last year’s Premier League campaign.
Saints reduced their season ticket prices and were one of the few clubs to do so; a move which has helped acquire over 2,500 new season ticket holders for this season.
The impact of this pricing strategy is particularly greater among the younger demographic. There has been a notable surge in season ticket purchases from fans under the age of 26.
According to research from Saints, other purchase motivation factors include the guarantee of a ticket to every game and the same seat for every game, which is a top priority for 67% of season ticket holders.
To add, 63% of season ticket holders also expressed their desire to continue supporting the team they love, illustrating an unwavering dedication to the club following its recent relegation.
Charlie Boss, chief commercial officer at Saints, said, "We are thrilled to be closing in on this incredible milestone in season ticket sales. By reducing prices and prioritising accessibility, we have made supporting Southampton Football Club more affordable and inclusive.
“We are immensely proud of our passionate fanbase and grateful for their unwavering support as we embark on a new era within the Championship. This achievement reinforces our commitment to delivering extraordinary experiences for our fans while ensuring that football remains accessible to all."
Season tickets for 2023-24 are still on sale with fans able still able to sign up to the club’s nine-month payment plan on purchases made by July 12, 2023.
The payment plans allow fans to spread the cost of their season tickets over a set number of months, with almost half of the season ticket holders already opting for this method of payment.
