LYON have reportedly enquired about the availability of signing Duje Caleta-Car from Saints.
Since joining Southampton from Marseille in an £8 million deal back in September 2022, the 26 year old has only made 13 Premier League appearances.
The potential move would see Caleta-Car return to the French league just a year after his arrival at St Mary's.
The Croatian defender missed Saints trip to Turkey having been granted permission to visit his wife, who is due to give birth.
The Daily Mail report that Laurent Blanc's side, who finished seventh last season, are plotting a potential move for the out of favour defender.
Their report also notes that Saints are considering a move for Everton’s Mason Holgate as a replacement for the potentially Ligue 1-bound centre-back.
Much like Caleta-Car, the former England youth international played a limited number of minutes at Goodison Park last term.
The 26 year old played just 559 minutes for Everton in all competitions last season.
Should the transfer be compleated, Caleta-Car would become the third player to depart St Mary's on a permanent transfer this summer after his compatriot Mislav Orsic and Ibrahima Diallo.
