SAINTS boss Russell Martin says he hasn’t heard anything regarding a potential exit for Charly Alcaraz this summer.

The Argentine started in Southampton’s season opener at Sheffield Wednesday before featuring from the bench against Gillingham on Tuesday night.

Upon entering the field, Alcaraz, who joined Southampton from Racing Club for £12million in January, fired in from the edge of the box in the 89th minute.

However, his goal wasn’t enough for Saints to mount a late resurgence as they were dumped out of the EFL Cup by the League Two side.

Speaking after his side's 1-3 defeat Martin claimed that some players amongst the squad don't see their future being at Southampton.

When asked about Alcaraz, the 37 year old noted that he hasn’t had any conversations regarding the midfielder's future.

He said: “When Charly came on he probably highlighted the lack of intensity in the game before that.

“He was aggressive, he wanted the ball and he wanted to make things happen. To get the goal will be great for him, it’s a real positive.

“He’s one of the few I haven’t heard any noise about. I’m not on social media so I don’t know, but I’ve not had a conversation about it with Jason (Wilcox) and the ownership group.

"We’ve not spoken about it once."

Alcaraz scored four times and provided two assists from 18 Premier League games last season.
