SAINTS manager Russell Martin issued an update on injured Sam Edozie and Will Smallbone following his side’s 4-4 draw with Norwich City.
Edozie was withdrawn seconds into the second half after signalling to the bench that he was not okay to continue while Will Smallbone suffered an impact injury later in the match.
Adam Armstrong scored two penalties while Jan Bednarek and Che Adams added to their Saints tallies but Martin’s side showed defensive frailties and could only land a point.
The loss of Smallbone could put a dampener on their added-time equaliser if scans show he is seriously hurt – but Martin remains hopeful.
Asked for an injury update by the Daily Echo, Martin said: “I think Sam will be okay, it was more of a precaution as he felt something in his hamstring. It was a shame for us as he was amazing.”
He added: “Will has taken quite a heavy whack on his ankle so I hope he is okay because he has been great.
“He’s someone who has got a chance at this club he hasn’t had before, a chance to show how good he can be and I hope we scan it and it comes back positive.”
Saints are back in action on Saturday, August 19 when they travel to newly promoted Plymouth Argyle for a lunchtime kick-off.
