SAINTS have been named as one of the Championship sides reportedly interested in signing Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Manchester City.

The 21 year old is back amongst Pep Guardiola’s squad having helped Burnley achieve promotion to the Premier League last season.

Harwood-Bellis made 35 appearances for Vincent Kompany’s promotion-winning Clarets as they finished top of the Championship.

The Telegraph report that the young defender has attracted interest from Southampton, Leeds United and Leicester City.

Hardwood-Bellis captained England's under-21 side to a European Championship victory in Romania and Georgia this summer.

The centre-back is familiar with Saints director of football Jason Wilcox, who is heading up recruitment, from his time as Man City academy director.

Saints have already completed the signings of Manchester City under-21 skipper Shea Charles and goalkeeper Josh McNamara - who has joined Southampton's under-21s.
