SAINTS are looking at a possible sell-out for this weekend’s home fixture versus QPR with just 1,500 tickets left on sale despite expected travel disruptions.
Saints have picked up seven points from their opening three matches under manager Russell Martin following late winners on the road at both Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth Argyle.
St Mary’s will host its second Championship game of the season on Saturday after a 4-4 draw with promotion-hopefuls Norwich City two weeks ago.
The final home game of the Premier League was also an eight-goal thriller (4-4 vs Liverpool) and not since Doncaster Rovers in 1982 have any team seen eight goals in three successive home matches.
Around 28,500 home fans packed St Mary’s for the first home match of this season against Norwich despite relegation and a bottom-place league finish just months prior.
The stadium saw really positive numbers in sales in both the concourse and the club shop with sales up by 50 per cent in total.
Train strikes, announced by the RMT union, are expected to hamper the travel plans of supporters this weekend but have so far not negatively affected the club’s sales.
Just 1,500 tickets remain for this weekend’s clash with QPR, on Saturday, August 26, while junior Saints members can go for just £1 as part of the ‘kids for a quid’ initiative.
