THE EFL have published confirmed squad lists for the 2023-24 season illustrating Southampton’s heavy swing towards homegrown players.

Only Stuart Armstrong, Jan Bednarek, Ryan Fraser and Paul Onuachu among those listed are not classified as homegrown players. 

The list includes 20 senior players, with academy coach Olly Lancashire and academy graduate Jake Vokins - who has not played for Saints since 2021 - named.

There are a further 31 players under 21 named, with some of those out on loan - such as Dom Ballard, Ollie Wright and Ryan Finnigan.

The under 21 list does include regular starters such as Gavin Bazunu, Charly Alcaraz, Samuel Edozie and Kamaldeen Sulemana. 

One surprise omission from the senior list is deadline day signing Ross Stewart but the Daily Echo understands he has now been submitted, after his move was not approved in time for the initial submission.
