SAINTS striker Paul Onuachu is reportedly in talks with Turkish side Trabzonspor over a loan move away from St Mary’s.

Onauchu, 29, has made only one appearance – as a substitute in the EFL Cup – under new manager Russell Martin.

The Nigerian international was signed for £18million in January to bolster the options of former boss Nathan Jones but has not benefitted from the complete change in the game model.

Six-foot-six-inch tall Onuachu has not scored a single goal for Saints since his arrival from Genk, having netted 16 in his last 13 Belgian league matches.

As well as Turkish publications, the Daily Mail report that Onuachu is now in talks with Trabzonspor over a loan transfer.

Although the transfer deadline in England has passed, with Saints keeping hold of Che Adams and signing Sunderland striker Ross Stewart, it remains open in Turkey.

Turkish clubs are able to sign players until September 15 – Trabzonspor have recently added Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe.

Trabzonspor also signed failed January signing Mislav Orsic from Saints earlier in the window but the Croatian international suffered a serious injury in training.

Saints manager Martin is happy to let Onuachu go but Saints are unlikely to recoup a significant amount of the money they spent on the striker.
