SAINTS loanee Paul Onuachu took just 30 minutes to score his first goal for Trabzonspor after failing to find the net in 11 matches in England.

The six-foot seven-inch Nigerian international helped his side beat Turkish giants Besiktas 3-0 with an opening header on his first appearance on the continent.

Onauchu, signed for over £15million on deadline day in January, joined to play under former manager Nathan Jones with his massive frame seen as a potential threat.

However, after Saints sacked the Welshman and replaced him with defensive-first pressing-enthusiast Ruben Selles, he started just three more matches.

Onuachu scored 16 goals in his last 13 games for Belgian Pro League leaders Genk before joining but was cast aside by the Spaniard with just 400 minutes of Premier League action.

The striker was forced off the pitch in the Supr Lig on Sunday with a minor injury but, speaking after the match, eased the concerns of his new supporters.

“I am proud to score a goal in my first match. Everyone fought hard,” Onuachu said. “I think my injury is not very serious. I left the game to prevent it from getting worse.”

Onuachu, who is considered a great character but merely does not fit the game model by new boss Russell Martin, may not play for Saints again.
