SAINTS and Stoke City have been charged with breaches of FA Rule E20.1 following their Championship fixture on October 3.
Both clubs are alleged to have failed to ensure that their players and/or technical area occupants did not behave in an improper and/or violent way after the final whistle.
Tempers flared at the Bet365 Stadium between both sets of players following the final whistle after Stuart Armstrong's free-kick secured a 1-0 win for Saints.

The FA's regulation and discipline update added: "It's alleged that Stoke City failed to ensure its players did not behave in an improper way during the 87th minute."
Southampton's win has been embroiled in controversy, with Alex Neil claiming that referee body PGMOL informed Stoke that they should have received a penalty and that the free-kick that led to Southampton's goal "was soft".
Southampton and Stoke have until Wednesday, October 18 to provide their responses and could receive a fine.
