FORMER Saints manager Nathan Jones is among the early favourites for the vacant Bristol City job, according to the bookies.

The Robins currently sit 15th in the Championship on 18 points and are without a manager after parting company with Nigel Pearson.

Bristol City have lost five of their last seven matches, including a 2-0 defeat to rivals Cardiff City on the weekend, which leaves them five points adrift of the play-off positions.

Last season's failed managerial appointment Jones has emerged as one of the favourites to take the role, with his odds placed at 6/1 by Sky Bet.

The Welshman, who was the 2021-22 Championship manager of the year with Luton Town, only lasted eight league games at Saints before being replaced by Sport Republic.

He is still awaiting his first job back in management since his sacking and had been among the early favourites for the Sheffield Wednesday role.

Former Birmingham manager John Eustace, who was replaced by Wayne Rooney earlier this month despite the club's healthy league position, is the current favourite at 13/8.

Gary Rowett is second-favourite at 5/2 after he left Millwall two weeks ago having spent four years in charge at the Den.

Curtis Fleming (10/1), Frank Lampard (10/1), Gareth Ainsworth (10/1) and Steve Cotterill (10/1) are also listed.
