SAINTS are promoting responsible gambling by partnering with Better Change and RecoverMe.
The club will work with the Better Change organisation to provide a pop-up hub for fans on a matchday as they try to give supporters a chance to stay safer when it comes to gambling.
During last season’s initiative, more than 1000 fans engaged with the Better Change representatives and they want to continue that good work this season.
Before the match against Cardiff City on December 2, reps will be available for supporters and there will also be online sessions with a gambling therapist for those who want to take part.
Chief commercial officer at Southampton FC, Charlie Boss, said: "Promoting safer gambling is our responsibility as a club and part of our commitment to protect fans and the community.
“We are really grateful to our partners and organisations like Better Change, who are helping to champion a safer future for our fans and the gambling industry, with responsible play at its heart.”
The club have been promoting Safer Gambling week by sharing helpful advice on their social media channels.
David Richardson, Head of Strategic Partnerships at Better Change, said, “Working with Southampton Football Club for over a year now has been a pleasure, they are a club that proactively make an impact with their Halo Effect forming the platform for their socially responsible activities.
“We play a part in this and support the club and the community it serves by educating about gambling and opening two-way dialogue on what is often perceived as a taboo subject.
“By breaking down the stigma we hope to signpost people who need any further support in the right direction as well as talking to fans about gambling and highlighting how this can be done safely from a positive play aspect.”
