SCOTT Quigley and Paul McCallum were on target as Eastleigh extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to three matches thanks to a narrow 2-1 win over Altrincham on Saturday.
Eastleigh opened the scoring after 12 minutes at the Silverlake Stadium as Quigley fired the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Altrincham found an equaliser midway through the second half as Chris Conn-Clarke converted a penalty.
Altrincham's Dior Angus was brought down in the six-yard box and Conn-Clarke sent Joe McDonnell the wrong way from the spot.
The hosts retook the lead five minutes from time when McCallum slotted the ball home from Quigley’s assist to clinch all three points.
Speaking to Eastleigh's official club media after the game, first-team coach Jason Bristow was delighted with the performance.
He said: "That’s a great win. They are a very good team, not just on today’s performance but you look at their results. In the last couple of months, they have not lost many games this season at all.
"They are on a very good run themselves and they put us under a lot of pressure in the second half and the lads were brilliant.
"I thought we played very well first half and probably deservedly went in a goal up. They put us under a lot of pressure and we were trying to find ways to stop what they were doing and the spaces they were creating."
Bristow claimed that the result completes a good week for the club who also earned a draw last week at Oldham.
He continued: "In the end, it was the resilience of the lads that got us through and got us over the line. Once again, the two boys up front scored the goals.
"A really good afternoon and it backs up a good point away at Oldham last week."
The result means that the Spitfires remain in 11th place in the National League, while the visitors drop down to sixth in the table.
Richard Hill's side return to action on Tuesday evening when they host Boreham Wood at the Silverlake Stadium.
