EVERY word Saints manager Russell Martin said ahead of facing Blackburn Rovers in the Championship clash at St Mary's...

Let's start with Blackburn, they just missed out last season and they have only drawn one of 21 games. How do you see them?

RM: They are very good, a really young team with lots of energy. They really changed from the first moment John Dahl Thomasson came in to where they are now.

He has really imprinted what he wants and they have good away form, which tells you they attack every team. They are brave and energetic.

We have to beat them in both scores tomorrow, we have to play with more courage and more bravery than them otherwise they will make it difficult.

I have enjoyed analysing them. We are at home and it should be a good game of football. I really enjoyed watching us play against Coventry.

We had a lot of thrust going forward and more energy than we did against Watford so if we can play like that I will be happy.

Sammie Szmodics has a good story, getting better and better as he has come into the top leagues from non-league?

RM: So much of football is about fit and timing, and opportunity. In English football, you have to work so hard in the lower leagues to establish yourself.

If you haven't come through a top academy then it is a more difficult route to get someone to take a chance on you.

He did really well at Peterborough and now he is doing really well with Blackburn. They recruit well and have a young and hungry team.

I know Greg, their technical director, from my time at Norwich. They have a lot of players who have found the right place for them in their careers.

We are aware of their threat and Sammie is one of those. It will be an interesting game.

Adam Armstrong is a Blackburn hero and is the second top scorer, it is a little shootout between them to isn't it?

RM: If Arma wants to use that as extra motivation or whatever then great for him. He has been incredible as a person and a player.

It's not just about his goals and assists, and I know he got another one the other night, he is brave and aggressive.

My brother said he loves watching Adam Armstrong play as he is like a warrior. He is an amazing teammate and you know what to expect.

Every team meeting we have, we are showing clips of him making recovery tackles. He is a striker who wins tackles and presses.

He is enjoying himself and he is demanding of himself, of the coaches and of his teammates. That is why he has had the armband.

I have no doubt he will continue doing what he is, he had an incredible last season at Blackburn before moving here and now he is showing everyone what he is about.

You have shored things up at the back, is there any element you're not happy with?

RM: I want to win more. I am proud of the team and the amount of work they have put in to come this far.

There was no better example than the other night, in the 94th minute, in our corner with five Coventry players around four of ours and Gavin.

The guys find a way out and continue to be who we are. We have a process we really believe in that will work.

The players have to carry it out on the pitch and that's the hardest thing, they cannot allow their energy to drop.

It's been an incredible run but we want to win even more and that is the focus. If people want to focus on our unbeaten run then brilliant.

But conceding less chances and less goals, the first bit is about the courage to take the ball and play properly, they have been so good in the build-up.

We made a mistake the other night but we had two chances to correct it. I will never criticise the mistake, but the reaction to the mistake wasn't good enough.

A mistake will happen, it is what it is, but it's down to the willingness to fight for each other and be brave.

You have a chance, at any level of football, if you are willing to take the ball with courage and fight for each other.

We now have an incredible feeling with the fans and with everyone here at the training ground so we need to continue that and hopefully we will get better.

It has been five years since Saints have won five home games in a row, is it a chance to make the mood in the stadium absolutely perfect?

RM: I don't know if it will ever be absolutely perfect but the mood in the stadium has already been brilliant. The away fans last week.

It doesn't motivate me that it will be the first time we win five in a row in however long, I just want to win.

I want to win for the players and how hard they work, I want to win for everyone in the building here, I want to win for the fans who have stuck by us and my family at the game.

All the players will have their own motivations but I am pretty sure every one of them will say what I have just said. We are in a good place but we want to win more.

We can't accept where we are or sit back, we need to step up.

Do we need to teach Flynn Downes how to cook, is he alright?

RM: I don't think it's to do with food this time but I don't think that has helped with his recovery.

He is fine. He felt a bit better on Wednesday but wasn't fit enough for the game but he is now fine so he will be a big bonus for us.
