FORMER Saints B team head coach Dave Horseman and his assistant Louis Carey have been sacked by Forest Green Rovers.
The duo departed Southampton this summer to take over the League Two side but have been relieved of their roles just five months into the job.
Troy Deeney, who had been serving as a player-coach, has now been hired as the club's permanent head coach following Horseman's departure.
Forest Green currently sit 23rd in League Two, five points from safety, however, they do have two games in hand on Colchester.
Forest Green chairman Dale Vince commented: "I'd like to thank David and Louis for all they have done here and wish them the best for the future.
"I wish we had more time, but we’re at the halfway mark of the season and need to act decisively to improve our performances and league position.
“Troy came to us to begin his career in coaching and take the next step of his career – this is happening sooner than expected but he’s built strong relationships already with our staff, squad and fans - and is well placed for the challenge."
Horseman's final game in charge of FGR was a 3-0 defeat to Blackpool in the FA Cup on Tuesday evening.
