SAINTS set piece coach Andreas Georgson has officially left the club to take up the manager’s position at Norwegian side Lillestrøm SK.
The 41 year old joined the Southampton's first team coaching staff in the summer, having previously been at Swedish outfit Malmö FF, while also having held positions at Arsenal and Brentford.
He now departs to take charge of Lillestrom, who finished sixth in the most recent season of Norway’s top division.
A statement on the club's website added: "We would like to express our thanks to Andreas for the excellent work he has done in his time at St Mary’s and wish him every success with his new opportunity."
Georgson, who has signed a three-year contract at Lillestrøm noted that he consulted with his former Saint Uwe Rösler, before accepting the job.
"I feel both pride, excitement and joy, and look forward to starting the job," he said upon the announcement of his switch to Norway.
"I like the club's identity and the culture here. We will dominate and create many scoring chances."
Lillestrøm chairman Morten Kokkim added: "We have had a long and thorough process in which we have been clear about the type of coach we wanted.
"We are very happy that we have now got Andreas in place. He is a professionally strong and hungry coach who fits our profile.
"He will further develop what has been created here in recent years."
Southampton will decide on the next steps regarding the role in due course.
Speaking to the Daily Echo in October, Martin praised the work Georgson did to help the club through their four-game losing streak.
He said: “It’s been great to have him in. He was really important during this (bad) period because he was there at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta when they had a really tough run.
"He’s got a lot of experience and some really great ideas around set pieces.
“I know we have conceded some set pieces, but we have looked really solid and a real threat from them.
“He will continue to work with the players to add that, along with the other stuff. There is a lot for the players to take in."
