SAINTS have agreed a deal to sign Bournemouth's Joe Rothwell on loan, the Daily Echo understands.
Rothwell, 29, has played 11 Premier League games for the Cherries this season under Andoni Iraola.
His only three league starts came in Bournemouth's first three games of the season.
The midfielder will become Southampton's fifth loan signing of the season.
Championship clubs can sign and register more than five loan players but they are only allowed to name a maximum of five in any matchday squad.

As first reported by Sky Sports, the loan deal does not contain an option to buy in the future.
Rothwell joined Bournemouth in June 2022, joining on a free transfer following his departure from Blackburn Rovers.
He made 20 appearances in the league as Bournemouth finished 15th upon their return to the Premier League.
Speaking to the Daily Echo earlier this week, Martin admitted that Saints were looking to sign a Nathan Tella replacement during this window.
