FORMER Premier League striker Clinton Morrison has tipped Saints to beat Leeds United and Ipswich Town to second place come the end of the season.
The 36-time Irish international was working as a pundit on Soccer Saturday for Southampton's 4-0 mauling of Sheffield Wednesday.
Southampton's win helped them equal the club's Football League record unbeaten run and lifted them to second in the table - before Ipswich won the late kick-off.
Morrison's assessment of Southampton's fourth goal, scored by Sekou Mara, was followed by the admission: "Southampton are going up, remember I said that."
Asked for his assessment of the fight for second place, Morrison said: "You would probably say Southampton and Leeds look the strongest. These two teams have got outstanding squads.
“If I had to put my hat on anyone, I would have to say Southampton but it’s going to go right down to the wire with Leeds and Ipswich."
Saints face Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday, May 4 - which is the final day of the Championship season.
They also travel to Leicester on Saturday, March 16 and Ipswich Town on Monday, April 1.
Saints currently sit third in the Championship - three points behind Ipswich and four points ahead of fourth-place Leeds.
