SAINTS assistant Matt Gill confirmed that Kamaldeen Sulemana will take a few more weeks to get up to "full speed" before his return from injury.

The Ghanaian has been pictured back in training with Southampton having suffered a hamstring injury back in November.

Kamaldeen was withdrawn in the first half of Southampton's 1-0 win over Bristol City - an injury which ruled him out of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Saints are eager not to rush him back too quickly in order to avoid any potential reoccurring injury.

The 21 year old missed the whole of pre-season through injury while also being heavily linked with a move away.

This latest injury has afforded the winger a chance to develop his understanding of his role within Russell Martin's system.

Speaking ahead of Saints FA Cup tie at Watford, Gill played down suggestions of an imminent for Kamaldeen.

He said: “Kamaldeen is back on the grass and has been with the group for a couple (of sessions). The social media team stuck a few videos out of him.

“He is close but he will take some time to get up to full speed. We have made sure he has been non-contact for a couple of days. He is also doing some extra work to build that fitness up.

“Sam Edozie is getting close, the same goes for Breezy, but they certainly won’t be ready for this weekend.

"It is going to take a little bit of time, but hopefully, we will have them back soon before the games become thick and fast."
