NOW that the winter transfer window has shut, all attention switches back to a tight Championship promotion race.

Russell Martin's Saints currently sit third in the Championship, one point behind Ipswich Town and one point ahead of fourth place Leeds United.

Southampton confirmed just two senior signings, adding David Brooks and Joe Rothwell on loan until the end of the season.

Although they were able to keep hold of Kyle Walker-Peters and Che Adams, the St Mary's side were unable to keep Charly Alcaraz, who joined Juventus on loan.

Defender Mason Holgate also saw his loan deal at Saints cut short to allow him to join Premier League side Sheffield Wednesday.

Here is what Leicester, Ipswich and Leeds did during the winter transfer window…

Leicester City

In terms of arrivals, January was a quiet month for Leicester. The Championship leaders had been working on signing of Inter Milan midfielder Stefano Sensi.

If you are only going to add just one player, why not make it a nine-time Italian international?

Sensi appeared to have travelled to England for his medical, but the deal reportedly collapsed at the 11th hour.

Left-back Luke Thomas saw his loan to Sheffield United cut short before promptly joining Middlesbrough on loan until the end of the season.

Another who had their loan spell terminated was Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casedei.

The Italian midfielder made 22 appearances for the Foxes – scoring twice – before turning to Stamford Bridge.

Casedei has since made a Premier League appearance for Chelsea, coming off the bench in their 4-1 defeat to Liverpool.

Enzo Maresca’s side have also lost two goalkeepers this month as Alex Smithies hung up his gloves and Daniel Iversen headed to Stoke on loan.

Leicester were able to bat off interest from Premier League sides for star midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – a major boost for the rest of the season.

Ipswich Town

In contrast to Leicester – Ipswich were very active during the winter transfer window as they looked to add more depth ahead of a tight promotion push.

Having lost Dane Scarlett to Spurs after his loan was terminated, Kieran McKenna’s side responded by signing Jeremy Sarmiento on loan.

Ecuadorian international Sarmiento was not their only attacking reinforcement.

Iraqi international Ali Al-Hamedi was signed from AFC Wimbledon having impressed in League Two.

The 21 year old, who was once a Swansea player but left just before Martin's arrival, had scored 13 goals and provided six assists in 23 games for Wimbledon.

Not content with just one forward, the Tractor Boys ploughed on to secure the deadline day loan signing of Welsh international Kieffer Moore.

Blackburn captain Lewis Travis has also joined Ipswich on a deal until the end of the season.

Freddie Ladapo was Ipswich's most high-profile exit in a window which also saw Kyle Edwards join Oxford United on a free transfer.

Leeds United

For the most part, January was a month of departures at Leeds United.

Cult hero Luke Ayling has left the club to join Middlesbrough on loan, while fellow right-back Djed Spence saw his loan deal cut short.

Welsh international Connor Roberts was signed on deadline day from Burnley to fill the gap left by those exits.

Daniel Farke's side also lost a few youngsters. Darko Gyabi has joined fellow Championship Plymouth on loan for first-team minutes and defender Leo Fuhr Hjelde was sold to Sunderland.

Winger Ian Poveda also left the Peacocks in search of first team football - joining Sheffield Wednesday on loan.Daily Echo:
