SAINTS defender Jan Bednarek described new signing David Brooks as a "complete player" following his debut at Rotherham.
Brooks was introduced on 74 minutes at the New York Stadium and helped Southampton secure a 2-0 win.
The 26 year old joined Saints on loan until the end of the season from AFC Bournemouth in search of regular football.
Brooks made an immediate impression on Saints supporters by dinking the ball over a defender before nutmegging him moments later on the right wing.
The Welsh international also bent a shot just over from the corner of the box and drilled in a dangerous low cross, which Sekou Mara could not turn in.
"You can clearly see that he has got a lot of quality. He has got great technique, dribbling and passing," Bednarek told the Daily Echo.
"He is a complete player that we really need. Adam Armstrong has been playing on that side and he needs the competition.
"As we saw against Rotherham, he can come on and make a good impact as a sub and be a threat to the opposition."
Southampton's trip to Rotherham was the first of seven games in February - a total which will increase to eight should they beat Watford on Tuesday evening.

Bednarek is not concerned that Southampton will suffer during the latest hectic period of fixtures.
Tuesday’s FA Cup tie offers another chance to rotate, while Sam Edozie, Kamaldeen Sulemana and James Bree approach a return to full fitness.
Southampton can also look forward to the return of Joe Aribo when AFCON draws to a close on February, 11.
“We have a lot of games this month, but we also have a big quality squad with a lot of players who want to play," he continued.
“Not everyone can be involved in each game, so it is an opportunity for all of us to play and show our quality.
"The competition is really strong and that is what makes us better. The standard in training is really good."
