SAINTS manager Russell Martin insisted there "will be some changes" to his starting team for the FA Cup fifth round at Liverpool.

Martin, speaking in a press conference ahead of the visit to Anfield, also addressed his team's drop in form in the Championship.

The boss admitted regret at how many changes he has made to his team throughout three defeats in four matches.

However, despite a crucial league clash at Birmingham on Saturday, Martin added he will name a team he believes can win.

"We have such a relentless schedule and such a big game on Saturday so it is inevitable there will be some changes," he explained.

"But we will put out a team that we think is capable of a performance we are proud of and that can win.

"We are going there to win, we’re all winners otherwise we are not in this job. It’s a cup game so we are not going to sit back."

Martin added: "It’s not in my nature or our nature as a club so we will go there to have the identity we have had for quite some time.

"We also want to use the frustration of Saturday. When you are a winner and the team doesn’t get what it deserves, it’s frustrating."

Saints defender James Bree could be in line for his first appearance since an injury at QPR in December.

The 26 year old full-back missed 10 Championship fixtures before making his return to the squad as an unused substitute on Saturday.

Martin said: "Breezy is the most laid-back guy ever so I wouldn’t say I have seen an overly excited Breezy but he’s smiling a lot.

"That tells us he is pretty happy. He has played in a couple of under-21s games so he will be involved at Liverpool for sure, in whatever capacity.

"He was in great form before he was injured playing on the right or the left, so it will be a big bonus having him back for sure."
