SAINTS have been given a new date for their postponed trip to Leicester City in what could be a crucial Championship clash.
Russell Martin's side will now head to the King Power Stadium on Tuesday, April 23, with a 7:45pm kick-off confirmed.
Saints were due to take on the league leaders next Friday (March 15), but the fixture was postponed due to the Foxes' participation in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Southampton's announcement states that tickets bought for the original fixture will remain valid.
The trip to the East Midlands comes just days after an away match at Cardiff City on Saturday, April 20.
It makes it a three-game week with Stoke City at St Mary's on Saturday, April 27. Saints must also rearrange a home clash with Preston.
Postponed due to a fire in the industrial estate in St Mary's, Preston will visit again on another midweek slot before the campaign's conclusion.
The Daily Echo understands Saints are monitoring Leicester City's financial situation with the Foxes potentially in breach of P&S rules.
Leicester are set to be charged by the Premier League over alleged breaches of its financial regulations.
However, due to fast-track rules being voted in at the summer AGM following Leicester's relegation and rescindment of league membership, they could escape instant punishment.
Championship clubs can typically be hit with a points deduction in the Championship for breaching Premier League rules.
However, Leicester could win promotion back to the Premier League this season and then be hit with a points deduction next term.
Saints are among their Championship challengers monitoring the situation if Leicester win promotion despite breaking the rules.
