SUPPORTERS have voiced their feelings after Southampton's automatic promotion hopes took another blow following a 0-0 draw with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Russell Martin’s men dominated first-half possession but failed to create clear-cut chances, with Joe Aribo seeing a header come off the crossbar after Adam Armstrong dragged an effort wide.

Rovers star Sammie Szmodics nearly saw an audacious effort from distance come off and the hosts continued to pose problems after half-time as Eustace searched for his first home win.

Both teams had chances to win it but a flat-looking Saints came closest, with Kyle Walker-Peters seeing a late shot cleared by Callum Brittain.

Here is what Saints supporters have said on social media following the drab draw at Ewood Park...

On Facebook, Paul Topley wrote: "I don’t think we’re ready to go up. It could be a disaster if we did! Personally, I don’t mind another year in the Championship and try and win it for once."

Antony Pink said: "It was awful, they must have left the good bit out. What has happened to their belief? Finishing is schoolboy stuff. Armstong had a tap in the first half and didn't even get it on target."

Tom Webster added: "Most lackless game of football I’ve ever watched us play in person, felt like such a disappointment to the travelling fans!"

David Langdown surmised: "Russel Martin, not bad but something is missing with him apart from stubbornly fielding players who are not up to the Championship like Jack Stephens and Gavin Bazunu - who does pull off some good saves but can easily be beaten by long shots. Given time for more experience he will be good but is not there yet."

William Fielder voiced: "We spent most of the game passing backwards, our keeper touched the ball far too much, it’s bad when players pass back to him from the halfway line, we are far too slow going forwards."

In response to Martin's post-match verdict, Mike Bunday said: "At least he’s owning up to his failure at long last. With the squad we have it clearly should have been an automatic promotion."
