SAINTS boss Russell Martin insisted he has "not got a clue" why a report elsewhere linked him to the Brighton manager's job.
The Sussex-born 38 year old has been in charge at St Mary's since a move from Swansea City last summer.
Saints are embroiled in a promotion race and currently sit fourth in the Championship table with only five games to play.
Last week, an unverified report elsewhere claimed that Martin is considered an option as the potential next Brighton boss.
The report claimed the Seagulls had spoken to Martin over the recent international break, with Roberto De Zerbi poised for an exit.
Asked about the report, Martin said: "Honestly I've not got a clue.
"The head of media said it to me the other day and I've not got a clue. Obviously, I'm from there and the styles are fairly similar.
"It's probably someone putting two and two together and making five," Martin added.
"I'm in a job I'm really happy with, and I need to get promoted to the Premier League. It's really that simple."
Brighton have looked to play a similar high-possession style as Martin throughout their time in the Premier League.
While Saints lead the Championship for possession, only Man City have kept more of the ball in the top-flight than Brighton this season.
Martin spent two seasons at both former clubs, MK Dons and Swansea City, before moving on to take his next job.
