SAINTS now have two one-off knockout matches to win promotion back to the Premier League after a 0-0 draw at West Brom.
They welcome the Baggies to St Mary's knowing one of Leeds United and Norwich City awaits in the Wembley final later this month.
It is all square in both semi-finals with Saints and Leeds the happier after clean sheets away from home in the first legs.
Here is how we think manager Russell Martin will line up his Saints side this evening...
Goalkeeper
Alex McCarthy was one of Southampton's top performers at The Hawthorns and made two big saves to preserve the crucial clean sheet.
Defenders
Martin has a decision to make over the team's shape but should start Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Jan Bednarek and Jack Stephens again.
It helps get the best out of Kyle Walker-Peters and Ryan Manning - albeit the Irishman tested defensively on Sunday - as wing-backs.
Midfielders
Flynn Downes is monstrous for Saints and has been showing attacking flair in this new system while still controlling the opposition.
He sits behind Will Smallbone and Joe Aribo, who are clear first choices for the more advanced midfield roles.
Attackers
Small doubts over both the forwards but Adam Armstrong should be fit and ready despite a nasty-looking gash to the face.
Che Adams missed out of last weekend's squad after a calf injury against Leeds but Martin hopes he can return to play a part.
Full predicted team
McCarthy; Walker-Peters, Harwood-Bellis, Bednarek, Stephens, Manning; Downes, Smallbone, Aribo; A Armstrong, Adams.
